Billy Arnold is our toughest client yet. This video demonstrates some of our efforts to find a way for him to independently control a computer. In this video, Billy tries to access our Safe-laser technology using scanning and a switch. The video doesn't have a happy ending -- but a few weeks after we produced this video he was able to spell words using some new software and the AccuPoint 3-D tracking system developed at InvoTek. Read about Billy on our blog.
Ben Chater is an expert technology user and a good engineer -- even though he studied to be an attorney! Ben is now working as an attorney and demonstrates is iPad mounting system from RAM Mount. The iPad tip on his headstick was made by InvoTek as part of a research project.
This video continues Khiry's journey after he comes home from Children's Hospital in Little Rock. We had a community meeting to discuss his needs and this video gives you a good sense of the day-to-day challenges facing Khiry and his family.
Curtis Earley has a great set of friends and family. He is a Be Extraordinary client and wants to help people adjust better to spinal cord injury -- whether they have one or just meet him on the street!
We designed an special head stick tip for using an iPad and modified a head pointer to meet Eva's needs. Eva was kind enough to send us a video of her using the system. Enjoy!
Meet Katie and see how she uses InvoTek's SSR speech recognition software for people with hard to understand speech. Thanks to Susan Fager, Ph.D., and the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital for the video clips.
Charlie Thompson is working hard and achieving his Be Extraordinary life goal. See him use InvoTek's Safe Laser System to type and follow him to class.

Wesley talks about his experience coming back to high school after his spinal cord injury and how his community supported him. This is a great example of people pulling together to help!
Wesley is our second Be Extraordinary client. Listen to his story and you'll know why we (people at InvoTek) feel like the people we work with make our lives extraordinary!
George has been an advisor to our development team for a few years. After he had used AccuPoint for just over a year, we went to his house and asked him and Julie (his wife) to tell us how AccuPoint had changed their lives. No script. Just that question! Both George and Julie teach us a lot at InvoTek. Listen to how Julie talks about George's achievements. We think that is impressive!
Martin is also an advisor to our development team. Martin is an engineer by training and experience. We asked him and Janie (his wife) the same question we asked George and Julie -- how has AccuPoint changed your lives? Their answer is an important insight into the value of technology when it really works for someone.
Tom (InvoTek) and Loyd have worked together for nearly 20 years. Loyd has cerebral palsy and normally uses a head stick for typing. He learned to use AccuPoint very quickly.
George demonstrates how to use AccuPoint. Man is he good!
Ben is the best head stick user I have ever seen. We "met" him in 2009 through email and developed a tip for his head stick so that he could access an iphone. Ben was kind enough to put together the video on the left.
InvoTek engineers worked with George and Corkie from 2003 - 2010. During this time, we went through a lot of changes as George's Multiple Sclerosis (MS) progressed. George was our first Be Extraordinary™ client. Learn more here.
Corkie was George's wife and caregiver until he passed away in September of 2010. She talks about how InvoTek has worked with George and invites others to contact InvoTek.
Merle was our first "break-through" Safe-laser user. When he was introduced to the system, he couldn't move his head on purpose. He had an involuntary head-movement to the right (you'll see it on the video), but that was all. After his first attempt to use the system, the clinical team started to take it away (since he couldn't use it) but Merle became agitated. Using his eyes, he told the team that he wanted to keep trying. It wasn't long before he was clearly moving his head! Thanks to Dr. Fager and the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital for this video.
John (InvoTek) explains InvoTek's Be Extraordinary™ program. We hope that this program provides a funding mechanism for people who have few or no funding avenues open to them.
In this short video Martin and George give an overview of AccuPoint.
Tom (InvoTek) talks briefly about caregivers and the honor felt when we contribute to their work.
Tom was invited to talk at a fundraiser for a central Arkansas school district in the fall of 2009. Many of the Be Extraordinary ideas were forming at this time, as illustrated in this 12 minute video. To learn more about the school's Race to the Future program, please visit www.pc.sccpsf.org.
