Larry Bell »

Larry Bell was enjoying the afternoon with is family on the fourth of July (2010). He was goofing around doing back-flips and proud that he still could do them! On the way home that evening Larry was doing back-flips again -- but this time in a car. He broke his neck.

The past year has been tough with many disappointments, but you would never know it from Larry's attitude. He has the kindest smile and tone in his voice. He is excited about the future even though there are more uncertainties than any person should have. And as we teach him about using technology to help him be more independent it is clear that he is smart.

Larry wants to help other people. Normally this wouldn't be enough of a goal to qualify for Be Extraordinary, but when Larry says it you know that it is more than a desire. Actually, it comes across as a desperate plea. I (Tom Jakobs) spent three hours showing Larry his video and evaluating AccuPoint, which he uses very well. Without prompting from me, Larry asked "so when do I get to start giving back?" Here again, the tone in his voice is a plea.

Please watch Larry's video to learn more about him. Because his living arrangements are unsettled, we can't put together a complete budget for his needs. But we do know that AccuPoint is the way to go for computer access (Larry already has a nice computer) and he could use it right now! Our first goal is $2,000 to get Larry reading, writing, and on the Internet.
