Billy

Billy wanted to be able to communicate independently. He sustained a brainstem stroke in 2010. We worked with Billy for over two years and finally created a custom tracking system based on AccuPoint. When Billy looks up, his eyes naturally open. We put a small retroreflective dot on his eyelid, which is visible to the AccuPoint cameras when Billy’s eyes are closed and disappears when he looks up. Erik and Billy created custom scanning software that made it possible for Billy to independently write out messages.  The video below demonstrates how Billy used the system.
